Government hikes EDLI limit to Rs 7 lakh - Employees Deposit Linked Insurance scheme


The Central Government's Labour Ministry has issued a gazette notification enhancing the benefit under the Employees’ Deposit Linked Insurance Scheme (EDLI). 

If you know anyone who has passed away due to Covid-19 and was an employee under the private sector, then their nominee/legal heir may be eligible to receive an amount up to ₹7 lakhs under the Employees Deposit Linked Insurance (EDLI) scheme.

Through a gazette notification dated April 28, 2021, the maximum assurance benefit payable in the EDLI Scheme has been enhanced to Rs. 7 lakh from the earlier maximum benefit of Rs.6 lakh.

Earlier, in September 2015 the benefits under the EDLI scheme were increased from Rs 3.6 lakh to Rs 6 lakh, which got notified in June 2016.

The EDLI scheme is an insurance cover provided by the EPFO (Employees Provident Fund Organisation) for private sector salaried employees. You may share this information with your friends and acquaintances.
